Rigfit7Seas Rebrands Following Major Contract Wins & Acquisition

  • August 24, 2020

Rigfit7Seas are evolving through a rebrand and name change to Modutec following a series of international contract wins and an acquisition. Rigfit7Seas are known locally for our heritage in the offshore drilling sector; engineering and refurbishing living quarters within the North Sea.

However, the company reacted to the 2014 oil price decline by shifting our focus to international markets, maturing our offering over the six-year period. Today, the company has over 500 staff internationally and is mostly engaged in the engineering, construction and retrofit of living accommodation, equipment rooms and utility modules for the offshore production markets.

Rigfit7Seas has operations across Europe, the Middle East and the Caspian – and we recently celebrated the award of £25 Million of contract awards for technical buildings and living quarters in Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia.

Brian Knowles, Modutec Managing Director explained the name change:

“The Rigfit and Seven Seas brands were formed to address particular aspects of the market, but their heritage misplaces the offering of the company today.  By adopting the new brand, we hope to better explain the depth of our offering to customers.  This includes fully engineered modular solutions for hazardous areas, living quarter design and build, HVAC engineering and architectural safety solutions.“

“The company hopes to regrow its presence in the UK market following the completion of a major upgrade to the Wellsafe Guardian, the MODU owned by Aberdeen based decommissioning experts Wellsafe.  Other contract wins in Norway and in West Africa have strengthened the company’s presence back in Aberdeen – where staff numbers have increased in the past 12 months.”

Brian Knowles, Modutec Managing Director

“Our Aberdeen-based operation has been busy re-establishing the company in the past 24 months.  The acquisition of Avantis earlier this month will also form part of the new Modutec company and will enhance our UK-based engineering capacity significantly. With offshore utilities being our core offering, adding an energy performance and environmental technologies company will be a crucial part of our proposition going forward.”
